Schemes and Projects

1.  Technology Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture

This is a centrally sponsored scheme launched in 2001-2002. The programme is implemented in mission mode and is divided into three MINI MISSIONS; MINI MISSION-I, MINI MISSION-II, MINI MISSION-III, and MINI MISSION-IV. MINI MISSION-I deals with research and development in Horticulture and is being implemented by ICAR. MINI MISSION-II deals with area expansion programme which apart from cultivation of crops includes aspects like establishment of public/private nurseries, creation of water source, drip irrigation, Green houses, Mushroom production units, tissue culture labs, plant health clinics etc.. This programme is being implemented by the department of Horticulture as per central guideline and Annual Action Plan approved by the State Small Farmers Agro-business Consortium (SFAC). MINI MISSION-III is aimed at providing infrastructure facilities for post harvest and marketing, export aspects. This programme is being implemented by the department of Agriculture through Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Produce Marketing Board and other central govt. agencies like NHB, APEDA, NERAMAC etc. MINI MISSION-IV deals with processing aspect and will be implemented by Ministry of Food Processing.

2.  National Bamboo Mission

This is also a cent percent centrally assisted programme, and the nodal department in the state is the State Forest Research Institute, Chimpu, Itanagar. The department of Horticulture has been entrusted the works under area expansion programme in Non-forest area.

3.  National Mission on Medicinal Plants

This is also a cent percent centrally assisted programme, and department of Horticulture has been made the nodal department of this programme from 2009 onwards. The schemes/projects under this programme is implemented as per central guidelines and approved action plant by the State Medicinal Plant Board.

4.  Schemes of North Eastern Council (NEC)

NEC also provides project based funding to the department. The pattern of funding is 90% of the total project cost. The remaining 10% has to be contributed by the state government. NEC schemes/projects likely to be implemented during the current financial year(2009-10) is as follow:

  • Integrated Community Large Cardamom and Orange Plantation in Jhum Land at Restaring, Korapu, Tarak Langdi, and Galang Putung villages under Tarak Langdi circle of Kurung Kumey District. Total approved project cost:- Rs. 246.36 Lakh. The project will be implemented in three financial years
  • Establishment of Large Cardamom Garden at Rassi village under Palin circle of Kurung Kumey District. Total approved project cost :- Rs.111.69 Lakh to be implemented in three financial years.

5.  Trainings Education

The department sponsors students selected through APJEE for higher studied in the field of Horticulture, and also conducts trainings and visits for farmers from time to time. List of students who are being provided stipend and book grants by the department and institutions of their study
